CivCon Capstone Project

Do You Have Any Questions For Us?

The CivCon Capstone is the final step of our fellowship program. After receiving a certification of completion, each Fellow creates a project that allows them to demonstrate their new understanding through a creative interpretation. It’s a chance for students to dig deeper into an issue they care about and gain experience in research at an early age.

We believe civic knowledge is only impactful if it's actually put to good use. The Capstone gives students the opportunity to practice research, problem solving, and leadership with guidance and mentorship from both our team and professionals.

Each fellow:
  • Chooses a topic related to government, policy, or community
  • Conducts research and gathers evidence
  • Develops their own ideas or solutions
  • Presents their work in a creative format
  • Shows off their project in front of our Board of student leaders and qualified professionals in the civics field
Fellows can pick the format that best fits their topic and skills. Examples include:
  • Research Paper: A detailed written report that analyzes an issue in depth and proposes solutions
  • Policy Brief: A short and persuasive paper recommending actions for lawmakers and officials
  • Research Poster: A visual and creative project that raises awareness about a civic issue
  • Podcast or Video: A recorded episode or short film to educate and inspire others

The CivCon Capstone Project gives young individuals opportunities to gain research experience while allowing them to grow from learners to leaders. We aim to prepare young people to improve their communities through civic engagement, one idea at a time.
